Moscow, Russia – May 6, 2008 -  “COMSTAR – United TeleSystems” JSC (“Comstar” or “the Company”) (LSE: CMST), the leading integrated telecommunications operator in Russia and the CIS, today announced that CJSC Cornet-AM, subsidiary company of JSC COMSTAR-UTS in Armenia, started provision of such a service as registration of domain names in the national domain zone of Armenia .am. 

Cornet-AM has concluded contract with the registrar AMNIC (Armenia Network Information Centre) and under the contract Armenian operator has the right to register independently country domain names of upper level with the code symbol .am. 

Boris Demirkhanyam, CEO of CJSC Cornet-AM, commented: “Today the majority of our users are corporate clients and it is important for them to have services of the quality and a set of value-added and interesting services. Quite often modern companies want to have their own Web site in the global network. And we as one of the largest Internet-operators of Armenia are able to offer such a service now”. 

Domain .am is the official domain of Armenia. It appeared in August, 1994. At the moment according to AMNIC data more than 1000 Web sites with domain name .am are registered in Armenia.
