Gazprom delegation takes part in meeting on socioeconomic development of Far East

Today, in Vladivostok a Gazprom’s delegation chaired by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee took part in the meeting which was led by Mikhail Fradkov, Chairman of the Russian Government.

Attending the meeting were Plenipotentiaries of the Russian President in the Siberian and the Far Eastern Federal Districts (FEFD), representatives of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, governors of the Federation constituents and heads of the leading Russian companies.

The participants discussed various aspects of socioeconomic development of the FEFD in a long-term perspective. Particularly, the meeting underscored that development of the unified gas production and transmission center, gasification development and Russian gas supply priority will address social, economic and energy problems in the region.

After the meeting, Mr. Ananenkov declared that Gazprom successfully implements the Eastern Program. Mr. Ananenkov envisaged that at present the FEFD has an extremely low gasification level which is much less than the average gasification level in the Russian Federation. Due to said situation, the Company actively participates in gasification of the Far East in cooperation with the authorities of the region and constituents of the FEFD Federation.

Mr. Ananenkov explained that in the aim of solving the problem Gazprom develops the General Schemes of Gas Supply and Gasification for the constituents of the FEFD Federation which must be prepared in 2007-2008. Furthermore, Gazprom signs the Agreements for cooperation and the Agreements for gasification with Administrations of the FEFD Federation constituents, cooperates with machine-building companies and organizations of the Far East deploying new workplaces.

Reference:

At present Gazprom has signed the Agreements for cooperation and the Agreements for gasification with four constituents of the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) including the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Sakhalin Oblast, the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krais.

The FEFD is currently gasified only by 5.2 per cent including 6.2 per cent in cities & towns and 1.4 per cent in the rural area. The gasification level is much less than the average level in the Russian Federation.
