Moscow. 13 January 2006. RAO "UES of Russia" and its subsidiaries, OAO "System Operator" and OAO "Federal Grid Company", have entered into an agreement with OAO "Russian Railways" on cooperation and coordination of information exchange in preventing and handling emergencies causing power outages to railway infrastructure.

The agreement is intended to establish effective information exchange among the companies in emergencies, enabling them to respond adequately and coordinate efforts to contain and eliminate the consequences of technological breakdowns.

The agreement between the nation's key infrastructure groups will improve reliability of power supply to customers across Russia. Earlier, a similar agreement to coordinate information exchange in preventing and responding to emergencies had been entered into between RAO "UES of Russia" and the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia.
