Working meeting of the Consortium for Eastern Siberia held

Gazprom's Headquarters hosted today a working meeting of the members of the Consortium for Eastern Siberia. Alexey Miller, Gazprom's Management Committee Chairman, Sergey Bogdanchikov, Rosneft's President and Vladimir Bogdanov, Surgutneftegaz's Director General took part in the Meeting.

The parties discussed the progress in joint development of the Talakanskoye field (the license to operate it is held by Surgutneftegaz) as well as the Consortium's plans to participate in a tender on the Chayandinskoye field development, to be possibly announced this year already.

The meeting paid special attention to selecting optimal oil gas pipelines routes in the country's east and to the expediency of laying those within a single corridor with gas mains.

In this connection, the parties expressed a common opinion that in mapping future oil pipelines routes, the existing Sakhalin - Komsomolsk - Khabarovsk gas pipeline should be taken into account. This pipeline upgrading and further laying to the city of Vladivostok and the town Hakhodka could be a backbone for establishing a united gas production and transmission system in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.

In addition, the above-mentioned measures will enable the parties to join the resources exploited within the Sakhalin projects and to be produced within promising projects in the Irkutsk region, Yakutia and the Krasnodar Area, with the view of effecting full-scale gas deliveries to eastern Russia and accessing markets of Asia Pacific.

Reference:

Gazprom, Rosneft and Surgutneftegaz signed the Consortium Agreement on 24 January 2004. Under the Agreement, the parties agreed to join efforts in developing oil and gas fields, devising the scheme of and establishing a united gas supply system in Eastern Siberia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
