Moscow, 12 May 2004. Tomorrow, 13 May, the Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais will attend the 13th annual e7* summit in Munich, Germany. During the meeting with CEOs of the nine world's leading electricity companies, RAO "UES of Russia" will sign an associated partnership agreement with the e7.
The G7-country industry leaders invited RAO UES to join the Group as an associate partner in 2001 when Anatoly Chubais participated in the Italian e7 Summit. It is anticipated that full e7 membership of the Russian energy company will be considered in parallel to Russia's acceptance as a full member of the G8 in 2006.
* The e7 is an international non-profit organization comprised of nine leading electricity companies from the G7 countries: American Electric Power (USA), Electricite De France (France), ENEL (Italy), Hydro-Quebec (Canada), Kansai Electric Power Company Inc.(Japan), Ontario Power Generation (Canada), RWE (Germany), Scottish Power (UK), Tokyo Electric Power Company (Japan). The mission of the e7 is to play an active role in global electricity issues and to promote sustainable development.
