Uralkali sales grow by 13%

"Uralkali" sales reached 8.4 billion rubles in 2003. It is 13% more than in 2002 (7.4 billion rubles). Company's balance profit amounted to 1,270,300 thousand rubles. The annual output of potassium chloride reached 4.4 million tons exceeding that of the previous year by 8.4%. It is the best production indicator over the past ten years.

In 2003, despite unfavorable external factors, the company managed to achieve positive results. Were it not for the plunge of the dollar exchange rate which had seriously affected "Uralkali" economy the company might have received an additional profit of 5%. Financial indicators were also negatively affected by the growth of tariffs on services of natural monopolies. Last year gas prices grew by 24.7%, railway transportation tariffs - by 12%, heating prices - by 9.6%, and electricity prices - by 5.4%. But thanks to the effective performance of the company original cost of its products remained at the 2002 level. Average wages of company's personnel grew by 18.8% as compared to 2002 (from 6,062 to 7,199 rubles).

"Uralkali" continues to pursue an active investment policy. When it comes to capital investments, in 2003 the company became the largest investor among industrial enterprises of the Perm region. In 2003 company's capital investments reached 1,422 million rubles which exceeds the 2002 level by 19%. The major portion of investments - 843 million rubles - was spent on capital construction. Investments allowed the company to implement a number of programs. Modernization of primary equipment of granulation departments was completed. A number of company's power facilities were switched from oil to natural gas. Water-consumption systems, as well as storage and transportation facilities were reconstructed.

When it comes to volumes of tax money paid to the city budget, "Uralkali" continued to lead among Berezniki enterprises having paid to the city last year a total of 286,578 thousand rubles. It is 32% of all tax money received by the city treasury in 2003. The company also paid 408 million rubles to the regional budget and 612 million rubles - to the federal budget.
