Today, the Gazprom Headquarters has hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Yury Boiko, Fuel and Energy Minister of Ukraine.

The parties pondered on main aspects of mutual cooperation in the gas sector. Particularly, the meeting discussed gas deliveries to Ukraine in February 2007.

A five-year Agreement with RosUkrEnergo for Russian gas supply was signed in January 2006 under a common price scheme. At the same time the tariff for Russian gas transportation through Ukraine makes up US $ 1.6 per 1,000cu m/100km (gas transit will be paid in cash).

On February 2, 2006, within the scope of the Agreements achieved in January, Naftogaz Ukrainy and RosUkrEnergo on a parity basis set up a joint venture Ukrgaz-Energo. The core business direction of Ukrgaz-Energo is to supply natural gas and other energy resources to Ukraine.

On October 24, 2006 RosUkrEnergo and Ukrgaz-Energo signed a Supplement to the Natural Gas Purchase and Sale Agreement of February 2, 2006 for the period from 2006 over 2010.

The Supplement signed earmarks 55 bcm/y as a resource base for Central Asian gas supply to Ukraine from 2007 over 2009. The Central Asian gas will completely satisfy gas import needs of Ukraine’s economy. In 2007 the price for Central Asian gas supply accounts for US $ 130 for 1000cu m.

The parties also agreed on volumes of natural gas supply for the period from 2008 to 2009. The parties will make a price for gas delivered by taking into account terms of natural gas purchases in Central Asia.
