This decision was taken at the meeting of IISI board of directors in Rio de Janeiro in which Deputy General Director of "Severstal-group" holding and President of Severstal North America Mr. Vadim Makhov took part.
According to Mr. Makhov, participation in IISI activities provides deeper involvement in the discussion of urgent problems and in decision-making regarding current situation and prospects of global metallurgy development. "This has been proven by successful cooperation of IISI with JSC "Severstal", which is the only Russian company within this organization", - said Mr. Makhov. "Furthermore, the International iron and steel institute, comprising 115 manufacturers of steel, more than 60 national and regional metallurgical federations and various research organizations, is an effective platform for positioning of business, increase of business partners confidence".
Vadim Makhov is elected member of board of directors of the International Iron and Steel Institute.
For reference: The International iron and steel institute is a noncommercial private organization. It was founded 1967 with the Headquarters in Brussels (Belgium). It is the largest association of metallurgical companies in the world representing more than 50 countries. The total steel production volume of the companies - participants is over three quarters of the world production of steel.
In December, 2001 then the General Director of JSC "Severstal" and presently the General Director of "Severstal-group" holding and Chairman of Board Of Directors of JSC "Severstal" Mr. Alexey Mordashov entered the Board of Directors of IISI.
