MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

January 17, 2007

OAO Mosenergo has started modernizing existing power plants located in areas of prospective urban development

On Wednesday, January 17, A. Ya. Kopsov, General Director of OAO Mosenergo chaired a meeting on implementation of the second phase of OAO Mosenergo’s Program of development and technical reequipment using the latest steam-gas technologies at the Company’s existing power plants located in electrical energy demand centers and areas of prospective urban development.

In the second phase of the Program, the construction of gas turbines is planned at existing power plants, including a 65-MW turbine at TPP-9, a 170-MW turbine at TPP-12, and a 280-MW turbine at TPP-20.

Representatives of design and construction companies reported that, at present, preparation of a bay for installing a gas turbine had started at TPP-9, and development of the power plant’s flow diagram was in the final stage. Four power engineering companies are considering the possibility of taking part in a tender for delivery of the gas turbine.

Work on preparing an installation site for new generating equipment is underway at TPP-12.

At TPP-20, a technical assignment has been prepared to draw up tender documents for technical reequipment of the power plant.

Technical reequipment of OAO Mosenergo’s existing steam power plants is underway based on the latest steam-gas cycle technology, which guarantees an efficiency factor of 52-59% (at plants with steam-power units, the efficiency factor is no more than 38%). The highly efficient steam-gas units allow gas savings of up to 25%, while reducing harmful atmospheric emissions by one-third.
