Moscow, December 09, 2004. Huawei and CenterTelecom are informing about commissioning a video-conference system in CenterTelecom based on Huawei Technologies equipment. The system has been deployed on the basis of the operator’s multiservice networks (IP, ISDN, and E1) and is used by its headquarters and 17 branches.
More than 40 ViewPoint 8020 and ViewPoint 8030 terminals have been used for construction of the video-conference network. ViewPoint 8620 switchboard with the capacity of 80 video ports is the system’s core. The top videoconferencing capacity reaches 2 Mbit/s.
The video-conference system has been deployed very fast: the installation of MCU switchboard and ViewPoint terminals in 17 regional centers took a week, placing into operation took 4 days. The equipment operation was displayed at Infocom-2004 exhibition. At CenterTelecom stand, additional terminals providing video-conferencing with all branches and live broadcast from the exhibition, including the broadcast of the visit of the Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation L.Reiman and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Michael Fradkov to CenterTelecom stand.
Since mid-October 2004, the video-conference system has been used by CenterTelecom to conduct regular working meetings. The company is planning to use it to deploy a remote education network. It is becoming possible through the conference data support incorporated into the system (following the recommendations of the International Communications Commission) as well as the advanced Desk-Top Transmission technology (information transmission from the speaker’s computer screen).
Currently CenterTelecom video-conferencing network on the basis of ViewPoint 8000 is the most powerful of the videoconferencing systems deployed in other inter regional companies and Svyazinvest companies.

ViewPoint ® 8620MCU is a videoconferencing switchboard with access integration to ISDN, IP, and SDH V.35 networks with different interfaces, reports and rates. The equipment provides a comprehensive solution for videoconferences enabling the connection of audio subscribers and conference data. High capacity and special reliability enhancing features make ViewPoint ® 8620MCU recommendable to telecommunication operators to be used as the core of the commercial video-conferencing networks. ViewPoint ® 8620 can be used in different communication networks, both in narrow-band with channel switching as well as in broadband packet switching. Users can be connected to both H.320 and ?.323 systems without using external gateways. In top configuration ViewPoint ® 8620 supports up to 64 conferences simultaneously. Each conference can be held and handled separately. Videoconferences can be initiated, conducted and completed directly from the user's terminal very easily thanks to unique SiteCall technology. The equipment supports up to 12 conferences with "Permanent Presence" mode (9 options of image allocation on the screen), while the allocation options can be changed "on the fly" by the conference chairman or the operator. The main window can be switched into voice activation mode.
