RUSAL announced today the sale of the Bratsk ferroalloy plant, a subsidiary of the Bratsk aluminium smelter, to companies acting on behalf of the JSC "Investment. Construction. Technologies" (ICT). The transaction was concluded 1 April.
The Bratsk ferroalloy plant was originally operated as part of the Bratsk smelter complex, but in November 2003, was restructured as a separate entity. The plant was offered for sale in December 2003, as part of RUSAL’s comprehensive program to divest non-core assets.
The Bratsk ferroalloy plant produces about 10,000 MT of metallurgical silicon and 40,000 MT of ferrosilicon per year.
The parties agreed not to disclose further details about the transaction.
