Among the key participants of the Meeting were Colin Powell, US Secretary of State, Donald L. Evans, US Secretary of Commerce, Spencer Abraham, US Secretary of Energy and German Gref, Minister of Economic and Trade of the Russian Federation, Maxim Medvedkov, Deputy Minister of Economic and Trade of the Russian Federation, Andrei Korotkov, First Deputy Minister of Communications, Veniamin Yakovlev, Chairman of Russia’s Supreme Arbitration Court, Konstantin Remchukov, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Supreme Arbitration Court. Andrei I. Kazmin, Sberbank’s Chairman of the Board and CEO, who is a Member of the Board of USRBC, spoke at the both Meetings. His statements referred to plans for restructuring the banking sector, Sberbank’s position and its role in the Russian banking system and in the country’s economy in general. Among other issues considered at the Annual Meeting were the prospects of US-Russian collaboration in such areas as trade and finance, power industry, space and aviation, agriculture, support of SME. Sberbank’s delegation headed by Andrei I. Kazmin also held a range of business meetings in New York and Washington D.C. with representatives of major US banks, members of Congress, International Finance Corporation, the Federal Reserve System, the American Bankers Association and others. During the meetings certain agreements on future cooperation were achieved. Note: USRBC is a non-profit trade association that was established at the beginning of 1993. Since then membership in USRBC has grown from 23 to 250 companies working and investing capital in Russia. USRBC has declared expansion and strengthening of commercial relations between USA and Russia as its main objective. Sberbank has been a member of USRBC since 2001.
