EUROPOL Gaz’s 10th anniversary

Warsaw hosted yesterday celebrations held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the EuRoPol GAZ Russian-Polish joint venture. Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee, Alexander Medvedev, Gazprom’s Management Committee Member and Gazexport’s Director General, Marek Kossowski, CEO of PGNiG (the Polish State Oil and Gas Company) and Michal Kwiatkowski, President of EuRoPol GAZ’s Management Board, took part in the festivities.

In the course of the celebrations the participants laid the 1st stone at the building site of the Ciechanow compressor station. This station will become the 3rd out of the 5 ones to be constructed at the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. The 3rd and 4th compressor stations are planned to be brought into operation in July 2005, making the annual throughput of the Polish section some 27 bcm of gas.

Alexey Miller congratulated EuRoPol GAZ’s team for the event.

Reference:

The JSC EuRoPol GAZ Transit Gas Pipeline System was incorporated in September 1993 within the frames of the Inter-Governmental Agreement between Poland and Russia on the Construction of a Gas Pipeline System for Transiting Russian Gas via Poland and Delivering Russian Gas to Poland, dated 25 August 1993. EuRoPol GAZ’s major business lines are design, construction and operation of the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline.

EuRoPol GAZ owns a Poland-situate 684-km-long section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline as well as the Kondratki and Wloclawek compressor stations, which make the Polish section throughput some 22 bcm per annum.

EuRoPol GAZ’s shareholders are Gazprom and PGNiG.

Poland annually consumes some 12 bcm of gas, including 30% produced domestically. In 2003 Poland imported some 7.3 bcm of Russian gas, including 2.9 bcm received through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline.

For the time being, 8.6 million cubic meters of gas are daily piped via the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline to Poland and 56 million cubic meters are daily transited to Germany.
