GAZPROM

March 3, 2004

The results of Alexey Miller and Nikolai Gilauri’s working meeting

Today, at Gazprom’s Headquarters, Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman, held a working meeting with Nikolai Gilauri, Fuel and Energy Minister of the Republic of Georgia.

The parties discussed gas deliveries to Georgia and current gas payments, prospects for Gazprom’s participation in gas trade in the Republic and development of the Georgian gas transmission system. The parties achieved an accord in devising a detailed plan of joint activities within the frames of the Cooperation Agreement.

Reference:

Georgia does not produce gas. Natural gas deliveries to the Republic mainly originate from Central Asia. Natural gas share in the Georgian gas balance averages 24%. In 2003 gas supplies to Georgia totaled 1,009 million cubic meters, including 257 million cubic meters under Gazexport’s contracts and 752 million cubic meters under ITERA’s contracts.

In 2004 gas deliveries to Georgia were fully provided by Gazexport, a 100% Gazprom’s subsidiary.

In July 2003, Gazprom and the Georgian Government signed the 25-year Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the Gas Industry. The Paper envisages main directions of cooperation: natural gas supplies to Georgia and participation in gas sales to Georgian end-use consumers, restoration, upgrading and development of the Georgian gas pipeline system as well as gas deliveries to Georgian power plants and joint marketing of electricity produced.
