In his speech, Mr. Barantsev, General Director of JSC GAZ, noted, that during the whole year of 2003 the methods of labor management, accepted at the biggest automobile companies all over the world, were mastered and introduced at the Gorky Automobile Plant. The main point of the new production system, successfully mastered at JSC GAZ, is to produce more goods of high quality with less expenses and efforts.
As a result, 53 reference production areas have been set up, the daily production volume of trucks has increased from 482 up to 582 vehicles, the quality has also increased: finished product acceptance amounts to nearly 100% already.
All this became possible due to realizing the main principles of JSC GAZ philosophy:
- the work of each production unit is maintained by requirements of a buyer, which include first of all supply of defect-free products;
- people are the most important assets; a factory worker should be provided with all necessary for qualitative performance of his duties.
- constant every day improvement of production process;
- working process monitoring and problem solutions should be effected directly at a working place, through a direct contact with workers.
Mr. Barantsev emphasized, that there is a concrete goal for JSC GAZ: to set up a successfully developing company for three years, that is able to compete with Western manufacturing companies in terms of price-quality , i.e. the company, that gets high income and its employees get competitive salary.
Having discussed the results of 2003 and the tasks for the future, the dealers of JSC GAZ supported the activities of the company management, targeted to industrial engineering improvement. The participants of the conference emphasized, that the changes within the company they witness positively affect both stabilization of production and sales policy.
