On February 25-26, in the City of Ivanovo, JSC Svyazinvest and Iskratel (Slovenia) workgroup held a meeting on the basis of CenterTelecom Ivanovo branch. During the presentations and the meeting issues of upgrading crossbar exchanges, transition from analog network to digital one, and networks of the new generation (NGN), products and solutions (xDSL, CC-USS, TMN) as well as results of Y 2003 operations and Y 2004 equipment deliveries plans were discussed.
The place for the meeting was not chosen at random. Crossbar and step-by-step automatic telephone exchanges (ATSK and DShATS) of Ivanovo city telephone network have been upgraded by Iskratel (Slovenia) in 4 phases.
At the first phase the following units were upgraded: the 3-rd node of incoming messages (UVS-3), Automatic Telephone Exchanges ATS-30 and ATS-35, DShATS-32 was shut down, and its subscribers were switched to electronic exchange SI-2000 installed during the upgrade.
Automatic Telephone Exchanges ATS-23, ATS-29 and UVS-2 were upgraded during the second phase.
Automatic Telephone Exchanges ATS-38, ATS-31 and ATS-25 were upgraded during the third phase.
During the fourth phase Automatic Telephone Exchanges ATS-26 and ATS-37 and automatic telephone exchanges of Ivanovo region will be replaced by electronic electromechanical equipment.
The fourth phase is expected to be completed in the beginning of 2005.
The upgrade allows minimizing new equipment purchase costs, to ensure 100 % digitization of the city inter-exchange communications, to free a considerable quantity of technological areas, to reduce power consumption and to introduce a uniform management system at all exchanges of the City of Ivanovo. All subscriber switching activities are performed free of charge for the subscribers.
JSC Svyazinvest management representatives, JSC CenterTelecom general management, representatives of Moscow, Yaroslavl and Ivanovo branches of CenterTelecom OJSC and Iskratel (Slovenia) and Diamond Communications took part in presentations and meetings within the scope of the workgroup activities.
