Vladimir Tchaguine, “KAMAZ-Master” rally-raid team’s pilot, two times Winner of the off road rally-raids World Cup, four times Winner of “Paris-Dakar” super marathon has been announced as the best national race-driver of 2003.

Tradition of choosing the best race vehicle pilot at the end of each sport season has been held since 1996. The popular Russian special magazine for drivers named “Za Ruljom” (At Steering Wheel) acts as an organizer of this event. The winner is usually singled out through questioning journalists’ opinion. Over 40 reporters from about 30 leading Internet and other mass media publishers participated in the poll this year. A quarter of them have voted for Vladimir Tchaguine, the pilot from Naberezhnye Chelny.

While answering the questions asked by reporters Vladimir Tchaguine said: “I’m very pleased today to say that I get this honourable award as a representative of KAMAZ Inc. and Republic of Tatarstan, the government of which has created favorable conditions for development of automobile sports. I would like to emphasize the fact that unlike all other rally-raid participants, “KAMAZ-Master” teams were participating in rally-raids only on domestically manufactured KAMAZ trucks. And step by step performance of our all-drive wheel trucks is becoming equal to those of foreign OEMs.”
