A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Gazpromís Management Committee Chairman, and Boris Govorin, Governor of the Irkutsk Region, was held today at Gazpromís Headquarters.
A. Miller and B. Govorin discussed the prospect for Gazpromís participation in developing the Kovytkinskoye gas condensate field. The parties agreed that the Kovytkinskoye field-related issues were to be resolved, taking into account comprehensive development of the East Siberian and Far Eastern fields.
The parties also discussed the possibility of Gazpromís participation in delivering gas to the Irkutsk Region as well as priorities for developing the Regionís fields (small- and medium-sized, inclusive), taking into account the necessity to urgently provide Russian consumers with gas.
A. Miller and B. Govorin agreed to elaborate and sign in February a cooperation agreement between Gazprom and the Irkutsk Region.
Russiaís energy strategy up to 2020 aims at establishing and developing an East Siberia and Far East-based new large gas production center. Under the RF Governmentís Order from July 16, 2002, Gazprom became coordinator in implementing the Program on the East Siberian and Far Eastern hydrocarbon reserves development; establishing gas supply system of Russiaís eastern territories as well as delivering gas to Asia Pacific through an integrated export channel.
