Samara Distribution Grids branch expands its capacities to support the development of southern urban districts

Power engineers of Samara Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) carry out an extensive reconstruction activities at the Zasamarskaya 110/10 kV Substation located in the Kuibyshevskiy sub-district of Samara urban district. Completed works will result in significant increase in reliability of power supply for consumers of one of the largest urban districts. Moreover, these activities will make possible to connect facilities and buildings of the Yuzhny Gorod — a residential complex under construction — to electricity networks.

As part of reconstruction activities on Zasamarskaya 110/10 kV Substation, specialists have already completed works on replacement of a power transformer. Its capacity has been increased by 15 MVA, and currently amounts to 40 MVA. Specialists installed 15 new cells in the 10 kV indoor switchgear, reconstructed 7 existing cells in the 10 kV indoor switchgear, with replacement of oil circuit breakers for vacuum circuit breakers characterized by high wear resistance, safety and ease of use. Besides, specialists installed 4 arc-suppressing reactors. Arrestors were replaced for nonlinear overvoltage suppressors.

By the end of the current year, power engineers will have to complete reconstruction of relay protection and automation devices, with installation of microprocessor-based terminals. It is also planned to deploy automated power control and metering systems (APCMS). All equipment installed at this power facility is provided by Russian manufacturers. The 110/10 kV Zasamarskaya substation was built in 1987.

This substation is one of the key power facilities in the Kuibyshevskiy sub-district of Samara urban district, providing power for such major customers as the pumping and filtering station operated by Samara Utility Systems, LLC, the Yuzhny Gorod residential complex (this project for integrated development of territories in the Volga region gave a new impulse to urban development of the region and became the driver of growth and development of southern districts of Samara), and the Ambar shopping and entertainment center of a "European" format.
