Moscow. 21 January 2004. According to the results of the World's Most Respected Companies annual survey conducted by the Financial Times and PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Chairman of the Management Board of RAO "UES of Russia" Anatoly Chubais has been included on the list of the world's most respected business leaders, leaving behind such well-known Western top managers as George Soros, BMW's Helmut Panke, and Nicolas Hayek of Swatch Group.

According to the PwC press-release, in order to determine the world's leading companies and executives that are most respected by their colleagues, and to find out the reasons for such choice, in November-December 2003, 1,000+ CEOs from 20 countries were surveyed, along with fund managers, media commentators, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Western experts say that over the recent years Anatoly Chubais has been able to make RAO "UES of Russia" one of the world's leaders in the electricity industry. For instance, RAO "UES of Russia" has been announced the Power Company of the Year in the 2003 Platts Global Energy Awards organized by Platts, the world's largest energy information agency. The Awards jury has noted the innovations in corporate governance, smooth operation of the Holding's entities, a good shareholder relations programme, and RAO UES' contribution to the overall development of the electricity industry.
