Commenting upon the enterprise performance results, Production Director of  "Severstal" Mr. A.V. Pogozhev said that both in December, and throughout the year the monthly plans for saleable rolled product were fulfilled. Despite of extensive maintenance in Blast Furnace Shop, particularly a 40 days shutdown of BF #2, the program for steel production was exceeded. Observance of tough consumption ratios (hot metal per ton of steel), particularly in converter production, as well as the production of electric steel with predominant use of pig-iron, which was reserved in plenty taking into account the maintenance of Blast Furnaces.

According to the operative data, the company has exceeded its 8.7 million tons 2003 program for production and shipping of the rolled products.

According to ?.V. Pogozhev, in 2004 Severstal will continue implementation of the previously accepted programs, including those regarding technical modernization and repairs of the major production capacities. With favorable market situation the possibility of increasing production of saleable rolled products is considered, particularly due to optimization of maintenance operations and preservation of the tendency to reduce consumption ratios on all process conversion stages of the company.
