Rosseti North-West

November 11, 2009

General Director of IDGC of North-West, Alexander Kukhmay, “We see the possibility of the infrastructure development of the western cost of the Kola Bay during the transition to the new system of RAB regulation.”

Within the framework of the working trip to the Murmansk region the Head of the unified electric grid company took part in the joint press-conference organized for mass media.

Alexander Kukhmay, General Director of IDGC of North-West today within the framework of the working trip to the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions, took part in the joint conference organized for mass media which took place in “Kolenergo”. Answering the questions of the journalists about the power engineers’ impact to the development of the Murmansk transport knot, the Head of the unified grid company in particular said, “Murmansk is a port which does not freeze. One can get to any part of the world by the ocean through it. It is of great interest for Russia, as far as a large amount of loads can be transited.  ”

Today in Murmansk they developed, primarily, the eastern part of the Kola Bay, but, unfortunately, the amount of loads it can handle is restricted. The future plan of the port is the development of the western cost of the Kola Bay and the creation of the infrastructure for businesses including the electric power.

Without the reliable power supply it is impossible t develop the western cost. For the preset moment we developed several schemes which help to supply the western cost with the necessary capacity.  They are worked out very well. Technically it is possible to fulfill the task.

At the first international economic forum which took part in Murmansk on October 15-17 of 2009 we discussed the problem of power supply of the western cost of the Kola Bay. We made the presentation of the project and people working under the development of the transport knot understood the problem.

And today out goal is to work out the certain activities connected with the capacity deficiency problem solving.  It required time and money. We see the possibility of the infrastructure development in case of transition to the new system of RAB regulation which is approved necessary for the attraction of the investments to the electric power. We shall switch to this system as fast as possible. We shall do it not later than by July 1 of the next year.

The Government took the decision which determines the transition to the new system of regulation during 2010. The earlier we make it, the earlier we will have the possibilities  for the realization of the goals we have in the city of Murmansk and at the western cost of the Kola Bay.”
