Several days ago a new Alkatel 2000 S-12 external module telephone exchange, with 2000 lines in service, was entered into use. The facility itself is not very large, but its appearance marks expanded business operations with Alkatel, a Belgian supplier of digital switching technologies. It is also noteworthy that Khantymansiisktelecom has stationed the exchange in a comfortable building with original architecture, erected by Garant (Novosibirsk), as an individual project designed by specialists of this company.
This two-story building, which now embellishes the city's landscape, houses the exchange along with an Internet kiosk equipped with six workstations, long-distance dialing facilities, including video telephone connection.
The governor of the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous Region, A.V. Filipenko, who was present at the opening ceremony , said he supported the intention of E. Lebedev, general director of the company, to build customer service outlets, comprising a number of such buildings of different size in other cities of Yugra, which will serve as the company's "business card". The next building is scheduled to be built in the city of Megion.
The total number of lines in service at Khantymansiisktelecom's telephone network is in excess of 312,000 lines. The company's digitalization rate has reached 92.4%. High technology solutions are also being used to organize intra-zonal communication, 70% of which is provided using the company's own transmission systems. Approximately 91% of this equipment is digital.
