Nizhnekamsk Thermal Power Plant is to be revamped with three gas-turbine units, total capacity of which shall constitute 75 MW of electrical power and 150 t steam/hour of heat energy. Having reviewed all feasible options and having studied the advanced experience, Nizhnekamskneftekhim Inc has selected an equipment supplier. A contract for gas-turbine units supply is planned to be signed with “General Electric” ( USA ) in November. Investment Feasibility Study will be taken up by “Energoperspektiva” company ( Moscow ).

When put into operation, the first three units will allow to meet the requirements of Nizhnekamskneftekhim Inc in electrical power up to 25% and heat energy up to 10%. An economic effect per annum will be around RUR 300 MM. And this is only the first phase. A second revamping phase provides for another three gas-turbine units having the capacity of 75 MW each.

Soon, “General Electric” engineers in conjunction with Nizhnekamskneftekhim Inc engineers and power engineers are going to discuss all technical issues. In the meantime, legal advisors of “TATENERGO” and Nizhnekamskneftekhim Inc are working on joint venture issues. With all the problems accommodated as appropriate, the first gas-turbine unit should become operational in the near two years.
