MOSCOW, 22 November, 2004 — RUSAL, one of the world's leading aluminium producers, and Orienbank, a leading Tajik bank, announced their joint sponsorship of the Bolshoi Theatre's first ever performance in Tajikistan. The Bolshoi Theatre will perform for three nights at the State Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Dushanbe between 22 — 24 November. The monies raised in ticket sales will be spent on a number of philanthropic projects in Tajikistan. The tour was initially proposed by RUSAL and is fully supported by the Tajik Ministry of Culture.

RUSAL cooperates with the Tajik Government on a number of long-term projects in the aluminium and energy sectors. The company is delighted to have played an important part in bringing the Bolshoi Theatre to Tajikistan for the first time. RUSAL looks forward to working with the Bolshoi Theatre and the Tajik Ministry of Culture to ensure the tour is a resounding success.

Both RUSAL and Orienbank welcome the growing economic, political and cultural development between the two countries and are looking forward to working towards future cooperation.

This project is part of RUSAL's sponsorship and philanthropic programme which aims to support worthy sporting and cultural events. RUSAL has previously sponsored the Bolshoi's Paris and London tours.

The performance programme in Dushanbe will include excerpts from some of the Bolshoi's most famous operas and ballets — Spartacus, Don Quixote, Chopiniana, Eugene Onegin, Snow Maiden, Carmen, Faust, among others.
