Santiago (Chile) hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman and Alfonso Dulanto, Mining Minister of Chile and Enrique Davila, General Director of Empresa Nacional del Petroleo (ENAP).
The meeting addressed cooperation deepening in Chile’s gas sector. Special emphasis was laid on Gazprom’s potential involvement in Chile’s state-funded program on setting up LNG reception and distribution infrastructure.

As of 1 January 2004, Chile’s proved natural gas reserves accounted for 90 bcm. While domestic annual gas consumption accounts for 7 bcm, gas production averages only 1 bcm and the rest is imported from Argentina.
Natural gas, oil, power generation and coal shares in Chile’s energy balance account for 26%, 43%, 21% and 10%, respectively.
Founded in 1950, Empresa Nacional del Petroleo (ENAP) is the Chile-largest oil and gas production, processing, importing and marketing company. Alfonso Dulanto, Chile’s Mining Minister since 2002, is under law serving as ENAP’s President.
