Last week Mosenergo won four diplomas at the international specialized exhibition “Power Sector Ecology” for implementing environmental technologies.

The exhibition was held at the All-Russia Exhibition Center. It was organized by the Department for Scientific and Technical Policy and Development of RAO UES and the Center for Power Efficiency of RAO UES. The participants in the exhibition included representatives of Russian power companies, operators from CIS and other foreign countries.

Mosenergo won the award for improving environmental protection of the aerial and water basin of the Moscow region. In particular, the company received diplomas for two--fold decrease in nitrogen oxide emissions and for implementation of advanced and highly efficient technologies for purification of waste waters. A separate award was given to Mosenergo for protecting fish in Moscow water reservoirs. The awards were handed to Mosenergo representatives by Yakov Urinson, RAO UES deputy chairman of the board.

During the last decade Mosenergo has never exceeded the existing environmental requirements. The company managed to reduce two-fold air-polluting emissions through the introduction of efficient modern technologies. Power facilities produce no more than 5% of the total volume of emissions. Automobiles remain the main source of pollution in the region (the source of around of 85% pollutants)
