SSM-Tyazhmash increased export sales by 24% as compared with the first six months of last year

According to Alexey Evgeniyev, Severstalmash-Tyazhmash' general director "SSM-Tyazhmash export sales in monetary terms increased by 42%".

The line of products sold to export includes iron tile, made in the mechanical repairshop #1, and forged bars, made in the press-forging shop.

The press-forging shop increased sales of forged bars to export from 120 to 240 tones. The shop shipped this item for the first time in July to a French company, which places orders of steel-making and machine-building companies. Further one the list of clients included German and Belgian companies and from July 2002, the company began shipments of steel forged bars to Singapore. The list of countries, to which Severstalmash-Tyazhmash exports its products, includes England, Thailand and former CIS countries, such as Azerbaijan.

SSM-Tyazhmash is a Severstal subsidiary, created as a result of restructuring of the Severstal repairshops. The company is made of 12 blanking and mechanoprocessing shops, as well as the engineering center, which spun off July 1, 2002. SSM-Tyazhmash is 100% owned by Severstal. The new company makes, assembles, and repairs the steel mill's equipment, as well as equipment of the pulp and paper industry, chemical, wood processing, and oil and gas industries. The company employs 5,000 people. In the future, SSM-Tyazhmash will become a core company of the Severstalmash group, which will also include Domnaremont, Metallurgremont, Energoremont and Stoik companies. Overall the new group of companies will employ over 10,000 people. Severstalmash group of companies will become the largest machine building enterprise in Vologda region and the Northwestern region of Russia.
