The Gazprom Headquarters today has hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabr Al-Thani, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

The parties addressed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the gas sector, outlined promising joint businesses and agreed to continue business contacts.

The State of Qatar is the world’s third-largest country by natural gas reserves. The explored reserves account for 11.2 tcm, of which 90 per cent is concentrated in the North Field being the largest natural gas deposit in the world.

The North Field is being developed by Qatar General Petroleum Corporation. Qatar’s gas industry undergoes active evolution. The government has devised a strategic field development and gas export & processing plan. Qatar intends to become a leader in the global liquefied gas market by boosting LNG production to 20 mln t/y. A focus is also placed on pipeline gas projects.
