On the 21st of October at 1 p.m. North-West Telecom holds at the Infocom-2006 exhibition a workshop "How to Protect One's Virtual World", the purpose of which is to help clients of North-West Telecom to safeguard their computer s when working in the Internet .  

The workshop will be held in the form of a thrilling presentation performance at the stand of OJSC N.W.Telecom in the Exhibition Centre of the North-West of the Russian Federation (2, Pobedy Square) and is intended for beginning Internet users, as it is they who most frequently become victims to virtual cheaters and computer viruses.

During the workshop, actors of the Litsedei studio theatre will present in the form of jokes the dangers of the virtual world: spam, a computer virus, a spy programme, a hacker. Specialists of OJSC N.W.Telecom will tell the visitors about methods of protection against intrusions of "uninvited guests" and will familiarize participant s of the workshop with defence methods used by the Company for its clients .

The subject of the workshop is topical, as today the number of Internet users is continuing to grow actively.   According to experts, the today's number of Internet users in Russia is about 35 million people. In the Northwestern Federal District 17% of the population are using the Internet.

North-West Telecom is one of the major providers of Internet access services in the Northwestern Federal District. At the moment the share of OJSC N.W.Telecom 's market in the Northwestern Federal District by dial-up access is 37%, including 24% in St. Petersburg (this service is provided under the "Advance" trademark).   The share of OJSC N.W.Telecom 's market in the Northwestern Federal District by broadband access to the Internet is estimated at 30% (in St. Petersburg it exceeds 25% of the market).
