Pestsovaya area of Urengoyskoye field brought to full capacity

The Pestsovaya area of the Urengoyskoye field has been brought to its full capacity of 27.5 bcm of gas per annum. The work was completed according to schedule.

“Over the past 5 years Gazprom has brought into operation the Zapolyarnoye, Vyngayakhinskoye, Yen-Yakhinskoye, Yety-Purovskoye fields as well as the Tab-Yakhinsky prospect of the Urengoyskoye field and Aneryakhinskaya area of the Yamburgskoye field. Now we have the Pestsovaya area fully operational. The total design capacity of these fields and prospects averages 170 bcm of gas per year.

Bringing Pestsovaya to its full capacity is another contribution of Gazprom in maintaining gas production growth in Russia and reinforcing the national energy security,” said Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.

Discovered in 1974, the Pestsovaya area of the Urengoyskoye field is located in the Nadym region of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, 150 km northwest of the town of Novy Urengoy.

The area is developed by Urengoygazprom – a major gas production company within the Gazprom Group.

Construction work began at Pestsovaya in 2002. Late 2004 saw the phase 1 launch for UKPG-16 (comprehensive gas treatment unit).

Pestsovaya’s supporting infrastructure includes: UKPG-16, a 47km 1,420mm connecting gas pipeline, water intake facilities and autonomous life-support systems: engineering grids, gas, water and energy networks as well as two 250-bed dormitories and a fire department. There are 146 wells operational at the field.
