Thursday, October 19, A.Ya. Kopsov, General Director of OAO Mosenergo, held a press conference at RIA Novosti: «OAO Mosenergo: strategic partnership in energy system development», devoted to developing electric power production in the metropolitan region and central Russia.

The General Director of OAO Mosenergo noted that the company’s development strategy during the period of gradual liberalization of the power market was based on technical and territorial development of the company, increasing market share, and improving the profitability of electric and heat energy production.

New construction of high-efficiency gas-vapor capacities, with the first ones to be commissioned as early as at the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008, will make it possible to eliminate the electric power shortfall in the metropolitan region by 2015 and to increase OAO Mosenergo’s share of the electric power production market on a countrywide scale.

The second line of the company’s technical development is technical re-equipment – modernizing existing capacities to improve the efficiency and ecological properties of power generation – which is being carried out by introducing the newest and most efficient technologies. The gas-vapor cycle technology being used allows to reduce specific fuel consumption and increase the reliability of electric power production. To this end, OAO Mosenergo is carrying out R & D and is expanding cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In partnership with a strategic investor, OAO Mosenergo, as a backbone generating company in central Russia with construction and design subsidiaries and highly skilled engineering personnel, is ready to develop and coordinate the operation of the energy system in the center of the country. The geographic scope of the company’s activities may be expanded by constructing new heat-generating capacities operating on various types of fuel.
