OJSC North-West Telecom participates in the 3rd Meeting of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Communication Workers of Russia

On 2-4 October 2007 the “Svyazist” recreation and prevention complex (RPK Svyazist) of the OJSC NWT became the venue for the 3rd Meeting of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Communication Workers of Russia. The meeting had about 170 participants. Among the participants were: members of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Communication Workers of Russia, chairmen of the territorial and interregional trade union organizations of communication workers, heads of health and safety divisions of the communication enterprises and Trade Union technical labour inspectors.

2 October 2007 was the day of the seminar “On health and safety in the communication enterprises” conducted by the Technical Labour Inspection of the Trade Union of Communication Workers of Russia. The seminar covered such issues as the role of the trade unions in monitoring the safety of the industry workers, attracting the attention of the employer to the work of the health and safety representatives etc.

On 3 October 2007 the trade union officers met the representatives of the employers of the communication enterprises to discuss the current issues in social partnership.

Vladimir Akulich, the CEO of the OJSC NWT, and Ella Tomilina, the deputy CEO for corporate relations of the OJSC NWT, were among the invited representatives of the employers.

V. A. Akulich greeted the participants and thanked the organizers for choosing the North-West region as the location for the meeting of leaders of the trade union of communication and post workers of Russia. He emphasized the "constructive partnership between the trade union and the employer in the OJSC NWT. This is because the trade unions protect the interests of our employees and the administration strives to provide maximal social benefits to our employees, that we have achieved the current results".

E. Tomilina introduced the participants to the OJSC North-West Telecom and its 10 branches, the district where it operates, some of the business areas of the NWT such as corporate relations, and shared the experience of developing the corporate traditions and corporate culture in the Company.

4 October was the day of the 3rd Meeting of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Communication Workers of Russia attended by the members of the Central committee and the heads of the health and safety divisions and also representatives of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the RF, OJSC Svyazinvest, OJSV Rostelecom, Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian post” and Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Broadcasting Network”. The participants agreed on the priority areas in health and safety and approved a decree “About the activities of the committees of territorial and interregional organizations of the Trade Union of Communication Workers of Russia related to the monitoring of health and safety in the industry”.
