The work on formation of NCC was started in 2008; in this year its construction part has been completed, and a software & hardware complex has been formed, which, among other elements, includes a control board (a display of 8 projective cubes of 2000 mm x 5600 mm). It shows an electric circuit of the region and parameters of power objects in a real-time mode. For power engineers of the Branch of IDGC of Volga, JSC - Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids, the automation of supervisory control is especially pressing, since it makes this process more effective, improves reliability of power supply, and optimizes work of grid equipment. "The new level of operative and process management", - the Chief of NCC Mr. Igor Antonov says - "allows power engineers to improve quality of services in transfer and distribution of electric power and in process connection to grids, provided to consumers".

The structure of the Grids Control Center includes 4 structural units: central control service; electric modes department; supervisory control and process management services, relay protection and automatics. At present, NCC carries out a full range of non-operational functions; among operational - coordination of times of putting power objects out of operation for repairing, control of loads on electric equipment, calculation of electric modes, etc. Admission of the Grids Control Center of the Ulyanovsk region to performance of a full range of operational functions is expected in 2010. To this end, controllers continue their education under individual programs.
