Today, at the Gazprom Headquarters, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Yury Boiko, Fuel and Energy Minister of Ukraine have finalized the talks about Central Asian natural gas deliveries to Ukraine.
In order to secure acceptable price terms gas deliveries will continue via the RosUkrEnergo joint venture.
The parties entered into the 4thQ 2006 supply contracts for RosUkrEnergo’s Central Asian natural gas, which cover the economic conditions of gas purchases by Gazprom. The price of gas sold by RosUkrEnergo to Ukrainian consumers will remain unchanged in 2006 at US$ 95 per 1,000 cu m.
The parties also identified the resource base for annual 55 bcm gas deliveries to Ukraine between 2007 and 2009, which is fully in line with the import gas requirements of the Ukrainian economy. The parties emphasized that a five-year contract for the Russian gas supply has been signed with RosUkrEnergo back in January 2006 based on a commonly accepted price formula. The parties addressed approaches towards formulating the Central Asian gas price for 2007 to 2009, which are based on the market principles and strategic cooperation in the gas sector.
The contract preparation in terms of the gas price for 2007 and 2009 will be fully completed until the year-end.
