Alexey Miller demonstrates Olympic venues under construction to Dmitry Medvedev

Within the working trip to Krasnaya Polyana, the Russian Federation President Dmitry Medvedev visited Olympic venues on the Psekhako Ridge that are being constructed by Gazprom – the Biathlon and Ski Complex as well as the cottage community in the Mountain Olympic Village.

During the working meeting at the construction site Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom's Management Committee notified the Russian Federation President of the project implementation and peculiarities of the constructed complex. “The first trial competitions will be held hear in winter 2012 already, from February 6 to February 11,” mentioned Alexey Miller.

In the course of the visit, the Russian Federation President expressed concern with the difficulties arising during the construction of Olympic venues. Alexey Miller told that the cost of land for the Olympic venues construction had increased owing to the renewed cadastral valuation. The Russian Federation President tasked Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, supervising the preparation for the future Olympic Games, to retain “effective rental rates for the whole construction period, as well as possible preferences in the operating period”.

In conclusion of the Gazprom's constructed venues observation Chairman of the Company's Management Committee reported to the Russian Federation President on the implementation of the construction schedule. “We will be in time, there are no doubts that the venue will be commissioned,” – stated Alexey Miller.

Background

The Biathlon and Ski Complex includes two stadiums, two isolated track systems and start and finish zones for each event, a biathlon shooting range with 30 targets and other sports infrastructure facilities. The constant ski track will be 5 km in length, the temporary track for the Olympic Games period – 12 km. The complex can simultaneously receive 9,600 spectators.

The biathlon stadium is a constant construction and it is close to completion – the finishing works are underway. The ski stadium will be a temporary construction consisting of prefabricated elements. The cottage community is a part of the Mountain Olympic Village designed for the accommodation of 1,100 people. This autumn, all cottages will be put in operation.

In compliance with the Program for Construction of Olympic venues and Development of Sochi as a Mountain Climate Resort approved by the Russian Federation Government, Gazprom acts as an investor in the construction of several Olympic venues in Sochi: the Biathlon and Ski Complex, the Mountain Olympic Village, Adler CHPS, the Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi gas pipeline and other venues.
