Gazprom receives National Ecology Award

Orgenergogaz, a Gazprom subsidiary, received today the National Ecology Award in the Eco-Efficiency Nomination for introducing the Blue Stream gas pipeline ecologic monitoring system. The prize was awarded to Boris Nikitin, First Deputy Head of Gazprom’s Gas, Condensate and Oil Production Department.

“Eco-safety of Gazprom-operated projects is a corporate top priority. Another confirmation to this – a roughly 2-year successful operation of the Blue Stream gas pipeline, with the most sophisticated sci-tech solutions applied aiming, inclusive, at environmental protection. The Blue Stream is a unique gas pipeline. It’s worth mentioning that the pipeline marine section was built at an over 2-thousand-meter depth in the aggressive hydrosulfuric environment and its onshore section was laid in mountaneous terrain. Abundant experience gained by Gazprom while constructing the Blue Stream gas pipeline, will be fully applied for the implementation of other large-scale gas transmission projects, in particular, the North-European gas pipeline,” – maintained Boris Nikitin at the Awarding Ceremony.

The prize was awarded in the Moscow-based Krasnaya Presnya Expocenter. The National Ecology Award was established by the RF State Duma’s Ecology Committee and V.I. Vernadsky Non-Governmental Ecology Foundation and was asigned for the 1st time. Attending the Awarding Ceremony were Academician Mikhail Zalikhanov, Chairman of the RF State Duma’s Supreme Ecology Council, Kirill Stepanov, General Director of the V.I.
