Rostec to be ROSSETI's strategic partner in power grid digitalization project

Rostec State Corporation and PJSC ROSSETI have signed a strategic partnership agreement. The agreement provides for cooperation in the construction of intelligent electricity accounting systems, information network security, telecommunications development, Digital substation and Digital active and adaptive networks projects' implementation, including production of appropriate equipment and software products based on Rostec enterprises.

The document was signed by Sergey Chemezov, Director General of Rostec State Corporation, and Pavel Liviskiy, Head of ROSSETI, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, and Denis Manturov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

The aim of this partnership is in solving national objectives to develop digital economy and improve digital power grid using domestic equipment and software products. Among the most expected effects are the increase of industry energy efficiency and the quality of services of grid enterprises as well as the development of the Internet of things as the basis of the Digital Economy. 

"To create digital economy was among the strategic priorities of development of the country set by Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia. This will require a new level of technology efficiency, including the power grid. The cooperation between ROSSETI and Rostec will contribute to the fast creation of digital power grid infrastructure based on domestic equipment which, in turn, will primarily have a positive impact on consumers", Aleksander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, said.

"Rosteñis one of the drivers to develop the Digital Economy in Russia. We create Smart technologies and process automation systems that provide new opportunities and improve the efficiency of work in many industries. ROSSETI is the first to make the transition to domestic digital solutions and proceed to large-scale introduction of the Internet of things. The partnership is aimed at solving precisely these tasks and will be implemented in the format of joint ventures where we are going to combine our experience and competence in this field", Sergey Chemezov, Director General of Rostec State Corporation, commented.

To date, a list of more than two hundred equipment items, including microelectronics necessary for smart networks and digital substations, has been made.

"Our joint assessment of potential capabilities of domestic enterprises has shown that Russian producers have everything to start producing an innovative element base for digital power generation. This agreement consolidates arrangements that were reached during consultations and plans for further cooperation. I'm convinced that our partnership will also contribute to development of export potential of Russian enterprises", Pavel Livinskiy, Head of ROSSETI, stated.

It is expected that the introduction of new technologies in the power grid will have a multiplier effect for the entire Russian economy, and the technologies and products in intellectual accounting, telemechanics, telecontrol, digital sensors, cybersecurity systems, control system software products, etc., will be used in other industries.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) Is Held from May 24 to 26, 2018 In a Modern Congress and Exhibition Center EXPOFORUM in northern capital. This event brings together more than 15,000 participants from 100 countries around the world.
