IDGC of Volga, PJSC summarized results of 2017-2018 autumn-winter period

Despite complicated weather and climate conditions of the previous winter, power engineers of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti Group) demonstrated the high level of reliable and uninterrupted power supply of consumers.

In December 2017 and January 2018 experts of the company faced abnormal weather phenomena – ice rains and intensive formation of glaze-ice and rime depositions on wires and ground wearers of overhead power transmission lines. Moreover, power engineers managed to avoid major disconnections of consumers in the area of responsibility of IDGC of Volga. Local technological failures in power grid operation were urgently eliminated. In order to improve efficiency of fighting glaze ice formation, intermittent melting was used with maximum permissible current, as well as the method of maximum possible voltage rise at source.

Due to prompt actions taken to fight glaze-ice and rime depositions, power engineers prevented damages of overhead power transmission lines and provided reliable power supply to consumers. Thus, in 2017-2018 autumn-winter period, 694 melting sessions and 274 glaze ice breaking sessions were held. Specific accident rate was reduced by 12.5% compared to autumn-winter period of 2016-2017. Besides, average duration of power supply interruptions for consumers of 6 kV and higher grid was reduced by 16.1%. Number of technological failures in 110 kV and 6-35 kV grid was cut by 8.9% and 10.4%, accordingly.

These indicators, as well as completion of the repair program in accordance with the scheduled time, confirm high level of company preparedness for winter. To liquidate technological failures, IDGC of Volga branches formed 886 repair teams, which included 4,730 employees and 1,687 units of motor and special equipment. 506 employees and 213 units of equipment were included into 62 mobile teams. Professional and timely actions of Company personnel were highly evaluated by the management of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Rosseti PJSC, and also regional authorities. Currently IDGC of Volga is actively preparing for 2018-2019 autumn-winter period.
