The S&P international rating agency has appreciated the efforts of OJSC North-West Telecom, aimed at improving the quality of Company’s reputation management, including the information transparency of the Company.   

In the course of a study of Russian companies, conducted by S&P's corporate governance rating service with the support of Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MMVB), the transparency index of OJSC NWT has been increased to the level of 62% - the 8th among 50 major companies of Russia, whose shares are traded in at MMVB.   

Experts speak of a high “Level of Disclosing the Remuneration of Directors and Top Management”:  OJSC NWT is one of the 5 companies, whose index has exceeded 50%. Besides, OJSC NWT is the leader from the point of view of the absolute scale of improvement, having been raised by 12 positions and having considerably improved its indices from the level above the average.   

According to S&P’s experts, “the improvements have been mainly caused by the desire to improve the attractiveness of shares and debenture bonds of the companies for foreign investors and mainly consist in the increase of the scope of information available in English, fuller disclosure of information in annual reports, improvement of the accounts on financial and operation activities and in publishing more information on the corporate web site.”       

Commenting on the event, General Manager of OJSC NWT V.A. Akulich noted that “the company will continue its policy of improving the information openness, corporate governance quality and investors’ confidence.  The communication strategy being implemented by North-West Telecom implies introducing information disclosure standards approaching the advanced international practices.”
