Rosseti North-West

March 23, 2010

122 out of 1,145 IDGC of North-West’s feed centers are closed

IDGC of North-West's top managers will outline the problems of realization of technical solutions in respect of reliability and energy saving of large North-West cities within the limits of the 10th Petersburg International Forum of the Thermal and Fuel Complex.

On March 24-26, 2010 St. Petersburg will host the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of the Thermal and Fuel Complex. General Director of IDGC of North-West Alexander Kukhmay will take part in the meeting (on March 24 he will attend plenary sessions) and Chief Engineer of the company Georgy Turlov (his presentation is included in the program of the next day within the limits of the conference "Energy of megacity: Development of the Energy Complex of Large and Medium-Sized Cities").

Within the limits of the international forum of the thermal and fuel complex which is held this year for the 10th time, the problems of efficient utilization of power resources, regulation of tariffs for electric and thermal energy, maintenance of reliability and safety of cities' power supply systems, and steps against losses in the process of generation, transportation and distribution of heat and electric power will be discussed.

IDGC of North-West's managers aim not only to outline the problems, but also to offer explicit solutions within the limits of a constructive dialogue of all interested parties who will gather at the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of the Thermal and Fuel Complex. It suffices to say that 122 feed centers of IDGC of North-West (including contracts for technological connection) were closed out of 1,145. The greatest problems are experienced by such cities, as Vologda where for technical reasons 71% of available feed centers were closed, in Murmansk this figure is 59% and in Arkhangelsk - 50%.

The main problems impeding the development of the grid complex of the North-West Region are insufficient financing of grid companies which can be balanced through transition to RAB, and absence of precise strategy and plans for development of big cities, which hinder development of the power complex at advancing rates.

"Energy companies need serious investors to solve the problems, so favorable conditions should be created, precise rules should be determined, development of business and return of the funds invested into the development should be guaranteed," said Georgy Turlov on the eve of the St. Petersburg Forum of the Thermal and Fuel Complex. "Within the limits of the forthcoming dialogue with participation of all energy entities, we plan to discuss how to achieve this in the most efficient way."
