Meeting of Coordinating Committee for liquefied and compressed natural gas production and seaborne transportation held

Gazprom’s Headquarters hosted the 4th meeting of the Coordinating Committee for the liquefied and compressed natural gas production and seaborne transportation, presided by Alexander Ananenkov, Acting Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee. Yuri Komarov and Alexander Ryazanov, Deputy Chairmen of Gazprom’s Management Committee delivered their reports at the meeting.

The Coordinating Committee members underscored that the analysis of the US liquefied gas market identified as a targeted one as well as the outcome of the talks with the US Government and a range of large energy businesses pointed to the need to launch Russian liquefied gas deliveries to the USA before 2010.

Gazprom has so far received a big number of propositions from the world’s leading energy companies willing to participate in projects on liquefied and compressed natural gas production and supply to foreign markets. In this connection, the parties deliberated on the criteria and mechanism for the selection of Russian and foreign counterparts to be identified on a tender basis.

Under Gazprom’s strategy being implemented, in particular, on the European market, the Company will get involved in the entire technological chain of liquefied and compressed natural gas production and supply projects.

The meeting also addressed issues related to the construction of tanker fleet intended for the tranportation of liquefied and compressed natural gas as well as to potential development of small-scale liquefied gas production by applying existing technologies.

In accordance with the decisions adopted, Gazprom plans to shortly conduct negotiations with potential project participants, to finalize a feasibility study and to form managing bodies to be put in charge of implementing projects on liquefied and compressed natural gas production and supply to foreign markets.
