Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) was awarded a gold medal and a certificate for its line of high-strength and wear-resistant steels produced under the MAGSTRONG brand at the International Trade Fair for Coal Mining Technology, RUSSIAN COAL & MINING 2019, in Novokuznetsk.

The judging panel of the competition highlighted MMK as the best exhibit in the category 'Road construction and quarry complexes, machines and mechanisms, excavators, loaders, earthmoving and planning machines.' Innovative steel magnets are widely used in the production of this equipment.

RUSSIAN COAL & MINING is the largest exhibition in the country for all sectors of the mining industry. The annual forum gathers hundreds of companies and tens of thousands of visitors in Novokuznetsk: including representatives of coal holdings, the scientific community and equipment manufacturers and suppliers. MMK MAGSTRONG steel attracted great interest among the guests of the exhibition: the use of these products can extend the life of equipment, significantly reduce the weight of products and give a significant economic saving. In addition, these steels are import-substituting, which also allows for a reduction in consumer costs.

In the line of MAGSTRONG steels, MAGSTRONG H500 stands out as a high-strength wear-resistant steel which the company has been selling on the Russian market since last year. Due to the chemical composition and heat treatment technology, this steel is perfectly balanced in terms of the optimal combination of maximum levels of durability and resilience, which in operation gives significant advantages over imported analogues. Due to the improved characteristics, this MAGSTRONG product has allowed many major Russian mining companies and companies specialising in the production of coal, copper, gold, potash and phosphates, to completely replace imported products or to move from traditional grades of steel to more technological materials.

The XXVI International Specialist Exhibition of Mining Technologies, RUSSIAN COAL & MINING took place in Novokuznetsk from 4-7 June 2019. This year's forum was the largest in the history of the project. It was attended by 714 exhibitors from 24 countries and over 40,w000 people visited the exhibition.
