Today Saint Petersburg has hosted the opening of the 18th Annual International Congress “Innovative Technologies in Oil, Gas, Energy and Communication Sectors” (CITOGIC-2008). Taking part in the Congress is Gazprom’s delegation headed by Bogdan Budzulyak, Member of the Management Committee, Head of the Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department.

In his keynote speech Bogdan Budzulyak spoke about Gazprom’s activity aimed at developing new hydrocarbon production regions, creating new transportation routes. He also spoke about the Company’s action plan referring to refining and petrochemicals.

The speaker noted that an evident component in the activities of Gazprom as the global energy company was in shifting all major businesses to innovative path of development. Today Gazprom is active in implementing new technologies in the area of gas production, transportation, storage and processing, which help optimize economic parameters, cut energy consumption for internal needs, and ensure environmental protection.  

“A crucial activity of Gazprom is developing and introducing new technologies in the energy area. From now on we are going to pay much attention to it and to be active in developing cooperation with foreign and national companies,” – Bogdan Budzulyak emphasized.   

The 18th Annual International Congress “Innovative Technologies in Oil, Gas, Energy and Communication Sectors” will last till September 6.

Background:

The Annual International Congress “Innovative Technologies for the Oil and Gas Industry, Energy and Communications”  is dedicated to new strategic directions for technological development of Russia being a global energy power.

The Congress is being held under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation and under the auspices of the UN, the Government of the Russian Federation, Council of Federation and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Industry and Energy of the Russian Federation. The Congress was organized by the Academy of the Technological Sciences of the Russian Federation, Gazprom, constituent  authorities  as well as the largest oil & gas, construction, financial & industrial Russian and foreign companies .

CITOGIC-2008 gathers more than 170 scientists as well as leaders and specialists from the largest oil and gas companies of Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Germany, France and the Netherlands.

The next Congress “Innovative Technologies in Oil, Gas, Energy and Communication Sectors” is planned to be organized in Ufa in 2009.
