On August 15, 2006 UTK’s CEO Alexander Andreev met with President of the Kalmykia Republic Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. Head of the Government of the Kalmykia Republic Anatoly Kozachko took part in the meeting.

At the meeting the parties discussed plans and long-term development prospects of telecommunications infrastructure in Kalmykia as well as questions on cooperation between "UTK" PJSC and the Government of the Republic in the sphere of the region’s informatization and on the Company’s participation in national projects and regional programs. Among other, the parties considered the project of providing Internet access for educational institutions of the Republic to be completed in 2008.

Alexander Andreev said, that "Southern Telecommunications Company" PJSC was ready to act as an information sponsor at the forthcoming world-title chess tournament between Vladimir Kramnik, Russia and Veselin Topalov, Bulgaria, to be held in Elista in September - October this year.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of the Kalmykia Republic thanked Alexander Andreev for the proposal and highly appreciated the activity of "UTK" PJSC and its Kalmykia branch on formation of modern telecom infrastructure in the Republic.

The same day Alexander Andreev met with the collective of the branch to discuss the questions on the branch’s organizational structure optimization and the Company’s development prospects. The branch "Electrosvyaz of Kalmykia Republic" fits in the parameters defined by the Company. «In order to achieve success we need well-coordinated work of all workers as well as support of local authorities» - General director said.

In conclusion Alexander Andreev hold a press conference for regional journalists on the results of his visit to the Kalmykia Republic.
