Inspection of porcelain covers of switches using ultrasound is the advanced direction of the diagnostics.
During the past year, IDGC of Volga (a member of Rosseti Group of Companies) tested 798 covers on 133 switches of low-oil-content circuit breakers (VMT-110). VMT-110 switches have been widely distributed and are used in electrical grids of all regions of IDGC of Volga, PJSC presence.
They are exposed to climatic factors (moisture, temperature fluctuations, wind loads) during exploitation. Production defects can also play a negative role. Ultrasound surveys are carried out by means of a device UDS2VF-TSIVOM-EP (ÓÄÑ2ÂÔ-ÖÈÂÎÌ-ÝÏ) and appropriate domestic procedures. The program is implemented to collect and analyze the most accurate and up-to-date information about the condition of the switch covers. This allows for the timely planning and maintenance of repairs, the reliable operation of the power grid complex and the uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
