Aeroflot and Lithuanian Airlines signed Code-Sharing Agreement

Today in Lithuanian Republic Embassy Aeroflot-Russian Airlines Director General Valery Okulov and Lithuanian Airlines Director General Vidas Zvinys signed Code-Sharing Agreement on joint operation of the airline Moscow-Vilnius.

The Agreement approved by the aviation authorities of Russia and Lithuania is to be effective from October 31, 2004, - the beginning of winter schedule.

Joint flights are to be made by the Lithuanian airline company on the route Moscow-Vilnius-Moscow four time a week by SAAB-2000 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday) and six days a week by Boeing 737 (every day except for Saturday). In accordance with the Code-Sharing Agreement Aeroflot is to be provided with a flexible number of seats (calculations are to be carried out according to the tickets sold) for all the aforementioned flights.

According to Valery Okulov, the Agreement enables Aeroflot to maintain its presence on the market of air carriages Russia-Lithuania, to operate more effectively the flights of the partner airline company providing its passengers with more opportunities.

"The Agreement reflects the political will of both countries' leaders to develop mutually beneficial relations including civil aviation," Mr. Okulov stressed.

Aeroflot signed agreements on joint carriages with 19 airline companies including Estonian Air, CSA, LOT, MALEV, Air France, Austrian Airlines, Cathay Pacific and others.

Aeroflot makes regular flights to 108 points of 48 countries of the world. In 2003 the airline company transported 5.8 million passengers.

Lithuanian Airlines is a national airline company of Lithuanian Republic established on September 20, 1991.
