This year, Samara Distribution Grids (SDG), a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (subsidiary of Rosseti, PJSC), will build first charging stations for electric vehicles in Samara near business centers, new residential complexes and major hotels. EV charging stations are vandal resistant panels built in the wall of transformer substations. The panels will be fitted with two charging sockets, and color-coded connection and charge indicators. Special access cards will be used to identify users. The stations will allow for the simultaneous charging of two cars. Charging time for a standard electric vehicle will be about 4 hours. This year, 5 charging stations will be put into service. Locations for Samara's first charging stations were selected bearing in mind available space and accessibility. Charging infrastructure deployed near high-rise residential buildings will allow EV owners to charge their batteries at night thus saving them the trouble of looking for a charging socket during working hours. Visitors of business centers will be able to charge their cars at neighboring charging stations.
