Helcom Delegation visits oil facilities at LUKOIL-Kaliningradmorneft

Members of the Helsinki Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM) visited oil facilities at LUKOIL-KALININGRADMORNEFT.

The delegation included Anne Christine Brusendorff, Executive Secretary of HELCOM; Tadas Navickas, Marine Secretary of HELCOM; Aleksandras Spruogis, Secretary of the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment; Raimondas Sakalauskas, Deputy Director of Environmental Quality Department at the Lithuanian Ministry of Environment; Nikolai Vlasov, Information Secretary of HELCOM and Leonid Korovin, Regional coordinator of HELCOM.

HELCOM Delegation, in particular, visited the offshore ice-resistant stationary platform at Kravtsovskoye (D-6) oil field. It also inspected Romanovo oil gathering station and Izhevsky oil terminal.

HELCOM representatives confirmed that measures taken by LUKOIL to prevent environmental pollution while operating the field and onshore facilities meet the highest international standards.

“We fully understand and share the concern and motivation of the Baltic States to preserve the unique nature of the Baltic Sea area. This is why LUKOIL made sure that only state-of-the-art technologies were used throughout every stage of the platform design and construction to ensure its safe operation. We remain open for a dialogue with social organizations and official representatives of the neighboring states. The management of HELCOM could see it for themselves.”-  Yuri Kadzhoyan, Director General of LUKOIL-KALININGRADMORNEFT said.

Representatives of HELCOM, the Russian Federation Ministry of Natural Resources and LUKOIL-KALININGRADMORNEFT agreed to continue the exchange of information on their activities in the sphere of environmental protection.
