In the course of preparation for the coming cold season specialists of Krasnogorskaya HPP finished an overhaul of the turbo unit with the capacity of 25 mW with application of the up-to-date technology RVS-IPI which belongs to nanotechnologies. They covered its certain parts with a special substance, atoms of which affect crystal lattice of the metal at molecular level. Tests conducted after the repair demonstrated that the turbo unit works without failures.
Initially the turbo unit maintenance was performed according to a traditional method. Because of serious dilapidation of one of the turbine’s couplings there appeared vibration of bearings after the unit was started up. Every maintenance means additional investments and increases repair period for several times. Under current circumstances specialists of the TGC-9 Production Direction in Sverdlovsk Region decided to employ modern nanotechnologies for the first time. The composition based on these technologies eliminates defects of worn-out surfaces and reduces friction factor considerably. It includes components of Ural minerals, such us serpatinites.
After certain components of the turbo unit were treated with this substance, vibration complied with the standard in the course of testing under different loads. Application of the new technology will substantially increase turbine’s life time.
